Today began with me driving to the Viacom building in Santa Monica to shoot promos for an upcoming television show. I was cast on a new reality show called Candidly Nicole starring Nicole Richie. After figuring out the parking situation, and we know in LA sometimes that can be a task I was off to wardrobe and makeup. I wore one outfit and brought two extras. Yes, I always come with backup. The outfit I was wearing was the one that was approved so I was happy I didn’t have to change. Makeup was then applied and I came hair ready so there was no fuss there. Yay!…I was dressed and ready to shoot.
But we know in this business it’s a game of hurry up and wait. Our star Nicole Richie had not arrived yet. Naturally, me and the other actors starting chatting casually among ourselves while waiting and filling out paperwork for the show. Then we were sent to lunch. Of course, now everyone perked up at the mention of food, which was great by the way. VH1 provided a really good spread for the cast and crew.
Sending us to lunch before any shooting began was the right move. When lunch was over we were told Ms. Richie was in the building. Since we just finished eating everyone was fully energized and ready to go. The concept was that Nicole was taking over the Viacom building and VH1 offices. The first setup was outside in front of the Viacom building. A mariachi band was playing on the entrance steps, and Nicole was dancing with them. To be more specific she was twerking to the music. It was so much fun watching her dance and interact with them. The next setup was upstairs in the offices. Nicole came through with a bull horn announcing her presence making sure everyone knew she had arrived. She stopped at every cubicle and desk making sure the employee was up to the task to work on her new show. Her questions and comments to the employees were hilarious. The best part is watching their reactions to her. You’re always surprised by what she says. It was a very fun-filled day being on set. A lot of laughs working with the girl with purple hair. I’m very much looking forward to watching Candidly Nicole when it airs on VH1 next month.
