Yay, I got the part!

Yay, I got the part!  I will be playing one of the natives on Skull island in the new comedic play KONG: A Goddamn Thirty Foot Gorilla.  It was a very different audition for me, never had one like it before.  Well, the first part was pretty standard, a 1-2 minute monologue using a scene from the play.  For the second part of my audition, I had to act out a scene from my favorite horror movie.  Now first I was very excited by this I love horror movies.  It’s my favorite genre ever.  I started looking up clips on YouTube of my favorite horror character Freddy Krueger.  My favorite Krueger killing was from Freddy 4 when he turned the girl into a roach and squished her to death in the roach motel. Sorry if you’re getting a mental picture right now.  Even though I loved that scene I found it hard for me to act out in an audition where I’m under time constraints.  Okay so on to another Freddy killing.  I decided to go with Freddy 3, where he turned this boy into a puppet and made him walk off a roof of a building all the while having everyone think he died accidentally by sleepwalking.  I kept practicing at home but I couldn’t tell if the people in the room would get if I was being controlled by an evil puppeteer aka Freddy Kreuger or some kind of newly scared zombie.  So finally after numerous watching of horror movies and YouTube clips, I settled on a scene from Final Destination 3.  It’s the scene where the girls catch fire in the tanning beds and burn to death.  It was a fun scene to audition with and the writer of the play knew exactly where it was from and everyone in the room laughed.  Whew! I felt a little better hearing the laughter in the room.  I think I did a good job.   Then about a week later my feeling was confirmed, I had done a good job, and I got the part. Yay!

KONG: A Goddam Thirty-Foot Gorilla

The play premiers October 20 at SkyPilot Theatre Company.  It’s written by Adam Hahn and directed by Jamie Robledo.  Never has an ape this big been on a stage this small.  You’ll have a great time when you see this play.  It’s full of fun, laughter, and audience participation as well.

New Headshots

So I’m new to LA and I have new hair so time for new headshots.  I use to rock my hair straight then I decided to cut it off and grow it out curly.  When I first cut it, I took new headshots but my hair has grown so fast since then. I started to feel like the girl who walks into the room is not the girl they see in the picture.  We all know how important it is to look like your headshots. No false advertising. I finally found a great and also affordable, well recommend headshot photographer Robin Emtage.  She’s great, fun, and easy to shoot with, and did I mention she is also a professional makeup artist as well.  A headshot photographer who’s also great at doing makeup,  a girl’s dream 🙂
